Ulysses âStretchâ Garrett has been thriving in the music/radio industry for 23 years by getting his first big break in radio at the age of 20, while still a junior in college. A true lover of R&B and classic Hip-Hop, he says that music is the perfect remedy for any ailment. Stretch has held previous positions at Yahoo! Music, AOL Music, Atlantic Records, BET.com, respectively. And he has graced the airwaves on the radio in Baltimore, Cleveland, Los Angeles, San Francisco and D.C.
A love for music and storytelling has prompted Stretch to venture into the literary world. âA great song and story go together like a hand in a glove. And Iâm just hoping my characters and stories give folks the same feelings of hope, love and optimism they gave me creating them.â he says. Stretch released his first novel, âLast Requestâ in 2019.
Stretch is originally from Baltimore, Maryland and a graduate from Towson University where he earned his bachelorâs degree in Mass Communications. He can be heard every Sunday on the historic WHUR 96.3 FM in Washington, D.C., from 2p.m to 7p.m.
He currently resides in Prince Georgeâs County, MD.

Baltimore's prominent radio-personality and host of the number one, nightly relationship show, "The Love Supreme," Mason Blake, Jr., hasn't been in love in a mighty long time. Battling with past pain, he is unable to be vulnerable to women he dates, so he mows through them one fine body at a time.
Mason's world collides with Angela West at an awards gala, and he is instantly smitten with the woman who slowly breaks down his barriers. In one sentence what is your book about? What would you compare it to?
Itâs a story of man who has avoided love, emotions and vulnerability for years but ironically hosts a radio love show. His world is turned upside down when he meets someone who opens his eyes to all heâs missed but when someone from his past emerges to threaten it all.
Who is your ideal reader?
A female in her mid 30âs to 60âs.
How did you know when you had the right book idea?
Back in 2007 when I started working on it in a creative writing course at UCLA.

All my life.
What mistakes did you make and wished you could have avoided?
Marketing. I wish i had hired someone to do it instead of me.
What are your goals for your book?
To be a best seller and hopefully touch someone with the story.
Did you ever have any doubts? If so, how did you overcome those doubts?
Not really. No, I did. I always thought what if no one likes the book.

What advice would you tell new authors who have dreams of writing a book?
Just write. Donât question it. Just do it.
What do you hope your readers get out of reading your book?
A good laugh and a reassurance that love can happen.
